| Adopt-A-Teacher
Program and Kind News, 2010-2011
The Thurston County Humane Society is
pleased to continue funding the Adopt-A-Teacher program. Animal Services administers this program on the Society's
behalf. Our program includes teachers in the Olympia, Tumwater, Griffin,
North Thurston and Yelm School Districts. Our goal for this year is 250
classrooms.
The Adopt-A-Teacher program involves
distribution of the Humane Society of the
United States (HSUS) KIND News educational newspaper every other month from
September through June. KIND News is designed
to help children better understand our world, its environmental needs, the
importance of kindness to all living creatures and our responsibilities to
all with whom we share the earth. As in the past, these newspapers and
accompanying teacher's guide are made available to your students at no
charge to you, your students or the school district. HSUS and Animal
Services will not solicit you or your students for donations and there is no
advertising in the newspapers.
There are three versions of KIND News:
Primary (grades K-2), Junior (grades 3-4) and Senior (grades 5-6). You may
decide which version is most appropriate for your students. You can see
examples of stories and other content from each version's newspaper at
KIND
News' website.
This letter is an invitation for you
to receive KIND News to share with your students.
E-mail your name,
school and the version of KIND News you would like to receive by June 15, 2010 to
begin your subscription for the 2010-2011 academic year. (You can subscribe
at any time, but please allow 6-8 weeks for your subscription to start).
If you have any questions, please call
or email me. I'd love to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Deanna Johnson
